I had the privilege of planning Mark & Mackenzie’s wedding which took place on a beautiful summer’s day on Canandaigua Lake.
Mark and Mackenzie’s love story begins with Mark starting a new chapter in life by moving across the country, to find himself falling in love with a girl who was rooted in her hometown. Only through time and God’s divine plan, did the two of them finally begin to notice one another. Mackenzie and Mark’s love for others, honesty, and quirkiness make them the perfect pair. There couldn’t be a more perfect match.
Mark proposed on Christmas morning surrounded by loved ones. This sweet, intimate moment would be the beginning of many adventures to come! Mackenzie, a gentle soul, was hesitant in planning her wedding day. As we began talking about plans, I walked them through how much time and effort goes into planning and preparing for a wedding. Even if you’re planning a modest or intimate event, there are dozens of decisions to consider. I was able to give her confidence by organizing all the details step by step to ensure she wouldn’t become overwhelmed along the way. I was able to help express her vision of a simply elegant, romantic reception. We created a mood board of all the different components she knew she liked, but wasn’t sure how to make it all cohesive. I explained how we would accomplish her desires for a bright and joyous color scheme and manage the local vendors who would serve her event best.
My inspiration was that Mark & Mackenzie were berry in love by having their flower arrangements and decor display vibrant berry jewel tones with accents of gold. The room also had sentimental details scattered throughout like pearls intertwined within the centerpieces to tie in that Pearl was her maiden name. I also took the time to find a special way to repurpose her mother’s wedding dress to honor her grandmother by displaying the lace details she had sown by wrapping her bouquet with the sleeve and draping the head table with the train. Their desserts also continued the berry theme with fresh fruit incorporated in the flavor and decorations.
When the day finally came, the couple had a happy sigh of relief because their ceremony and reception turned out better than they could’ve imagined. Two best friends who simply wanted to spend the rest of their lives together were finally one. No tear was spared as speeches shared the overwhelming joy for them despite trials of the past because God is able to make all things new and has a plan of purpose and hope for each of us. As the father danced with the bride, his eyes gleamed with accomplishment in giving his radiant and beautiful daughter away to a great young man. There were also many tears, not of sorrow, but of gladness as Mark and his twin sister danced together in loving memory of their mother. The reception was filled with joy and laughter as guests enjoyed the beautiful weather, lawn games, and delicious food provided by Kings Catering. Mark and Mackenzie wanted to begin their adventure as husband and wife surrounded by all whom they cared for the most to celebrate and that’s exactly the experience I was able to give them.
